Marie Kelsey’s 2019 wedding season kicked off on the second official day of summer with an incredible couple. Mike and Sarah traveled to Marquette, Michigan to be married in front of their friends and family on a perfect June Saturday. The couple and many of their guests traveled from great distances – Washington, D.C.; Colorado; Texas; Virginia; Wisconsin and more. It was so special to have so many guests from all over the country venture to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to support the couple as they said, “I do.”
Mike and Sarah celebrated their marriage during a musical and bike-inspired ceremony and reception. There were subtle hints of these two passions for the couple everywhere throughout the day: The pew cones were made of sheet music, a string quartet led the bride down the aisle with its sweet melodies, guests left the reception with custom CDs with music hand-selected by the couple, and rather than traditional table numbers, each guest was assigned a table that was named after one of the couples’ favorite tunes. Bike wheels displayed the seating chart and hung from the ceiling as a chandelier, and paper bikes encompassed delectable chocolate favors. The two themes came together in harmony on the stunning wedding cake.
One of my favorite things of every wedding I photograph is to witness the unique, honest and endearing love that my couples have for one another. Mike absolutely adores his new bride Sarah. In the time we spent together, I was beyond impressed by how much he supported and cared for his new bride. I made a point of finding his mom at the end of the night to tell her that someday I hope my son turns out as kind and sweet as hers clearly is!
I cannot thank this newly married couple enough for trusting me to photograph the start of this new chapter in their lives. Mike and Sarah – congratulations to the both of you on finding such an exceptional partner to spend forever with. I sincerely hope you enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii and this fun new venture in your lives together!
