Brave doesn’t even begin to describe Melissa and Jeremy. Two people who decide to take their engagement photos on the frigid shores of Lake Superior with sub zero temps are SO much more than brave. They’re incredible.
On this frigid Sunday morning, when the temperature on my car was reading -4, we visited two iconic Marquette, Michigan locations: Presque Isle and the Marquette County Courthouse. At Presque, the snow and ice covered Lake Superior made for a pristine backdrop that truly allowed the couple to shine. At the historic courthouse, the stately columns and sandstone walls helped to protect us from the blowing winds, letting us spend more than five minutes at a time outside. We had to hop in the cars to warm up a few times throughout our session, but the temporary suffering in the cold was totally worth it. Freezing temps and endless snow are part of what makes the Upper Peninsula so special, and now between their engagement and wedding photos, they will (hopefully) get all Marquette has to offer!
Melissa and Jeremy: Thank you so much for trusting me to not only make sure we didn’t end up with frostbite while taking these photos, but for allowing me to capture this special chapter in your love story. I cannot wait to photograph your wedding this summer!
